The official app of the Worcester Sharks allows Shark fans to stay connected with their favorite American Hockey League team. This mobile app allows users to view past scores, upcoming schedule and promotions, player’s stats, and live new feed as well as scroll through photo galleries with simple finger swipes.

AndPlus’ Role and Challenges
AndPlus approached the Worcester Sharks’ to create a fresh mobile app where their fans can easily access all information available on their website. We cusomtized what information will be displayed to the user working closely with American Eagle, who manages all data for Worcester Sharks.
“The client wanted a similar design to the the official NHL mobile app, which became a challenge for the interface designs because I needed to satisfy the client’s request as well as create a unique look that didn’t duplicate the NHL app. I accomplished this by laying out the content a bit differently and consolidating related interfaces such as placing Conference Standings tab on the same interface as Division Standings making these related pages accessible from both interfaces. ” - Anna Mekerian, Lead Designer

“When I began implementing this application one of the first things to pop out at me was the data feed the client had provided us with. It wasn’t meant to be machine-processed, nor was it designed to be easy to parse. Rather it was meant to be embedded within websites as an iframe. Rather than process these directly from the client, I opted to preprocess them on an intermediate server. We use a robust set of algorithms to extract data from the feed which adapt to inconsistencies and changes in feed format meaning that the client application always knows exactly what data to expect.” - Dan Church, Software Engineer
