Questions that can help frame success include: are we working on the function critical success factors, or are we just “gold-plating” a working application? Are engineers focused on the functionality which will provide the highest business value right now? What is our minimum viable product for this stage of the implementation process? We must continually ask ourselves these questions to understand when we are done with our project and whether or not it was a success.
Post launch, we want to make sure that we’re measuring success once the product is in the user’s hands. Certain tools that are in use today on your website can actually provide additional insight when your customers are using your applications. Tools like Google Analytics can be included in the application to gain more information about the usage of your application, the workflow that people are following when in your application, and the relative time spent on each interface of your application. These are some of the key metrics of how we measure success once the application has been deployed.
